Progress on the Crazy Taxi Multi-Racer Project
Installed the 29″ LCD TV using M6 bolts and 3/4″ salvage plywood. This TV is an insignia NS–29D310NA15 from best buy that I got for $99 on Black Friday of 2015 and it works exactly as I hoped (meaning it turns on to the correct setting when power is applied. It was hard to get going because it had do a channel scan successfully in order to get through the initial setup. Not a good design feature considering some buyers (at least in Montana) do not have “local” stations to pick up. I finally attached some rabbit ears to pick up the locals and it was off to the races…. the hurdles that is: Next I could not select VGA input because the computer wasn’t hooked up to it. NBD.
Installed the buttons for escape and PC Power. They are both on top of the machine.
Installed the absolute cheapest 2.1 sound system available to drive the original speakers. This cabinet has 2 speakers up front, 2 in the seat back and a bass in the seat bottom.
It’s all tied together with a smart strip when the PC boots, the speakers and TV come up automatically. It is very important to me that the machine be robust enough for unexpected shut downs and no use of TV remote.
Once the controls are wired, there will be 25 games to configure and calibrate.
